Каждый диск снабжался, в маркетинговых целях, каталогом и заинтересованный слушатель мог спланировать свои покупки. Сейчас, когда нет ни плана, ни каталогов делаем раскопки и открытия со старых чердаков.
С тех счастливых времён ожиданий, надежды и планового развития нам достался атлантиковский диск "этнического сегмента рынка" Олу Дара.
Судя по нижеследующей информации, артист этот уже достаточно известен и замечен в интересных непорочащих его связях.

The Mississippi-born, New York-based Olu Dara is the real deal: a modern day, 21st-century musical troubadour at home with jazz, blues, R&B, Latin, and African sounds. Although he's recorded numerous times with tenor sax titan David Murray and has played with Art Blakey and Taj Mahal since the 1970s, his debut recording In the World wasn't released until 1998. On the much-anticipated follow-up, Neighborhoods, Dara delivers more of his cross-genre African American autobiographical soundscapes. Backed by the diasporic grooves provided by his Natchesippi Dance Band, Dara's down-home elliptical vocals and blues-twanged guitar licks color this entire session. Коротко характеризовать стиль этого альбома можно несколькими словами: этническая (африканская) смесь из блюза, фанка, джаза, регги... Список инструментов/музыкантов сопровождает каждую страницу (трек) на экране. Где-то народу много, а где-то солирует один автор, вокалист с характерным блюзовым тембром и исполнитель на дудках, губной гармошке, гитаре.
В записи замешаны конги, электро-пиано, бас, Хаммонд В3, тенор-сакс, шекере, "коровьи колокльчики"... И надо сказать, что миксер умело ими позанимался: добился яркой дискретности, когда бонги-реплики-дудки-хлопки сидят в своих каналах, а центр замутил всеми сразу. Часто встречаются вокальные переклички в каналах, лёгкие гитарные переборы доносятся то оттуда, то сюда, а бонги-маракасы не сидят на месте. Была проведена кропотливая работа! 9 баллов.
Звук отчётлив, записан чисто, с воздухом. Стерео тоже радует.
Диск снабжён буклетом-раскладушкой с фото и перечнем всех музыкантов на каждый трек (как на экране).
Вобщем, это был "плановый диск", а сейчас можно сказать, что мог бы стать, с большим приближением, "эталонным" в этническом мультиканале.
