SACD– самое оно, а на блю-рике вдвойне.
Я всегда с подозрением относился к творчеству James Guthrie… Микс, видать всё тот же – никакой: тишайшее эхо в тылу и немой центр. Похоже, что ухудшить своим рукоделием парсоновский квадро-микс «Луны» и будет его главной «заслугой».
От качества звука по большому счёту (ни микса, ни битрейта) ждать нечего (только что в стерео?), а вот по содержанию, исполнению, треклисту – то, что надо. Такой, понимаете, спокойный «Пульс», не мельтешащий светотехникой и бегающими кинооператорами, с чёткой картинкой. Песни собраны чуток другие – от самых ранних, до сольников Уотерса, в прекрасной пропорции. Чем ни альтернативный ПФ? Имели 1, а сейчас 2. ПФ мало не бывает …
Концерт записан во время американского турнэ 2000 года. Зал по площади и масштабам не уступает «пульсовскому». По качеству изображения превосходит. Публика добрая: чаще слушает, чем скандирует. Камеры передивгаются медленно, давая всех расмотреть. Над сценой экран со слайдами. В команде немало знаменитых музыкантов, ранее подключаемых к ПФ, а после примкнувших к лагерю Уотерса. Сноуи Уайт выдаёт партии Гилмора без сучка и задоринки, да ещё с крутым драйвом. Doyle Bramhall II, часто показываемый в профиль, напоминает нам молодого Гилмора, что режиссёр чётко уловил и неспроста вклеил. На одном из номеров группа присаживается за столик поиграть в карты и попить пива – точно такой же «трюк» проделывал ПФ на своих концертах в 70-ых.
Ещё 1 плюс видео-диска: титры. SACD тут ничем не поможет. А вот почитать (наконец-то!) настоящие флойдовские тексты прямо за Уотерсом (и другими) – сущее удовольствие! В японском релизе (именно с этим номером) есть ещё и буклет с текстами и паралелльным переводом на японский. Любят в Японии своего покупателя. Потому и мы любим японскую продукцию. Обоюдно.
Итоги очевидны. Как и с SACD Depeche Mode “101”, видео-вариант гораздо привлекательнее, выгоднее, интереснее, информативнее. Берите!

Recorded on a single night in June 2000, In the Flesh: Live is a thrilling live testament to the strength of Roger Waters's peculiar artistic vision. Backed by a crack ensemble of both fresh and seasoned players, the former Pink Floyd songsmith powers through Floyd classics, underserved relics, and highlights from his spotty solo career. The man is in great shape, physically and musically, and he obviously has a blast playing live.
What of the axe work? Accept the fact that Waters and Floyd guitarist David Gilmour no longer play together, and you'll appreciate stand-ins Snowy White and Doyle Bramhall II--and the degree to which they honor the parts and solos immortalized by Gilmour. (See the lavish but impersonal Pulse for a healthy dose of Gilmour's Floyd.) The Dolby Digital 5.1 surround mix is massive, presenting both the music's inherent spaciousness and the favorable acoustics in Portland, Oregon's Rose Garden Arena. The DVD's 18-minute documentary is long on downtime and short on musical interplay. Any way you cut it, though, this is a must for Floyd fans and a real treat for lovers of arty, intelligent rock. --Michael Mikesell
